The client
Blue Margouillat is a 5-star Relais & Châteaux hotel in Saint-Leu, on Réunion Island. I've been handling its website's hosting, maintenance and development for more than 10 years.
The challenge
Travellers increasingly ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude where to stay. A hotel these assistants don't understand disappears from their answers, even if people searching for it by name find it easily.
The SEO & GEO audit (October 2026)
- 113 pages crawled, in French, English and German.
- 16 months of Search Console and 6 months of Google Business Profile data analysed.
- 8 traveller questions asked to 4 AI assistants.
- 4 competing 5-star hotels compared.
- Deliverables: report, prioritised action plan and projections.
What the audit found
- Broken structured data on the room pages.
- A business type that search engines didn't recognise.
- The labels page (Relais & Châteaux…), a major trust signal, excluded from Google.
- No FAQ or practical information that assistants could quote.
